Play Music on the Porch Day struck a joyful chord!

 

On Saturday, August 29, The Village joined communities around the world for our very first Play Music on the Porch Day - and what a wonderful day it was! Porches came alive with music, neighbours and friends gathered to listen, and true to the intent of the Day, a mix of genres and instruments helped make the event a memorable success.

 

We were thrilled to welcome such fantastic musicians to help launch this inaugural event. Doug Widdicombe started us off on the ukulele, joined by Julie Stautland and Laura Smelser, who jumped in and sparked a fun, unexpected singalong. From the band Broken Cadence, Mike Watt, Allan Nicolls, and Mario DiGiovanni brought us wonderful Canadian-themed classic rock. Jeremiah Sparks from The Shaw then entertained us beautifully on the piano, sharing stories and songs that were deeply appreciated by everyone listening. A special thank-you also goes to Bill Barber for inviting Jeremiah to perform from his porch.

 

A delicious thank-you goes to Lynn Hale, who baked a wonderful variety of cookies for everyone to enjoy.
