2023 Resident Survey
In March of 2023 the VCA Executive developed a survey asking for input from all Village residents.
The intent was to hear from the community where the VCA could improve the Village and prioritize efforts to meet these requests.
A summary of the survey was presented at the Annual General Meeting in April.

Updates will be made available going forward.

Lighting on the Pathways
Lighting on the pathway from Brock Street to the ravine was never installed when this section of The Village was built
This was first raised as an issue in 2017. The pathway between Brock and the ravine has no lighting, it is very dark and could be unsafe for bikers and walkers at night, in the early morning, and at dusk. The property is owned by the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority but they have no funds for this. The Town has been asked to support the request for lights. Ardeth Staz, VCA Vice-President, has been in touch with the Town, Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority, John Hawley, and residents along the pathway to continue to work on this issue.

Playground
The town has set aside finances to build a playground in The Village. They are suggesting it be located in the coming Business centre area. The Village residents will be invited to provide input about the type of structure they would like to see installed. This project is not anticipated to start for a couple of years.

Little Libraries
To provide a small service to residents the VCA has planned and built two Little Libraries to be located at the community mailboxes. Mailboxes were financed by the VCA and built by volunteers.
The Town asked in late fall 2020 that we wait until spring 2021 so as to reduce the threat of COVID before installing our Little Libraries. A proposal for financing was included in the proposed budget and, if approved, this will mean our two volunteer builders can begin work! COVID protocols will be in place. Information about the VCA and about the services of the Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library will be included in each Little Library, which will be located beside each mailbox area. Speeding in The Village
VCA Annual General Meeting
April 21, 2021
Vice President's Report by Ardeth Staz
Speed and Traffic Flow - I have been in contact with both the Town and the Regional Police regarding monitoring of speed in The Village. Reports indicate that data gathered shows a borderline issue on Niven but minimal issues on Garrison Village Drive. I have asked Regional Police to occasionally monitor speeds on Niven - data is sent to me when they monitor. Increased activity and parking with recent construction have made speeding less possible at the moment. Original Speeding in the Village Report, April 2019 (PDF, 14 pages)
